New DWI Law

Just heard on KATC News that they will be proposing a new DWI law this May. They will propose that when arrested for a DWI, a person will have to spend 48 hours in jail. They said that they found it takes about that long for alcohol to fully get out of our systems and it makes no sense that somebody gets arrested for a DWI then gets bailed out by his buddies a couple of hours later and still ends up driving the same car home that he just got stopped in. I think this would be a very good law and maybe scare a few more people out of doing it. What do ya'll think about it?

I'll get my wife to drive.

That's what I do, we take turns. We've each had our turn behind bars for DWI's and I never wanna be there again.

I actually commented on KATC website about that story. My comments are under John B.

It pisses me off how many people are worried about the drunk drivers rights. To me he loses his rights when he gets behind the wheel while intoxicated. Bunch of liberal f### sticks.

That's the way I look at it too. I totally screwed up when I got mine and made sure that I did everything they made me do to the fullest to make myself realize that it's just not worth it.

I saw on the news here in Baton Rouge a couple of nights ago a man was picked up for his 6th DWI. And 2 of those he was in an accident and hurt people. Thats a damn shame. They interviewed one of his victims and she is scarred for life loosing most of her left side functions and she like me couldn't believe he was still driving.

My brilliant roomate got a DUI Friday night. He was only in jail for 7 hours. I'd support this law.

I think there should be jail time for first DWI.......and the vehicle should be impounded for 6 months. If you do some damage or hurt someone.....they pay all expences.

Second DWI....1 year (min.) and you loose the vehicle and never get another drivers licence.
