shootout safety

hey guys just wanna run something by the members and the tournament entrees. there will be numerous boats at this saturdays tourney. there are only two channels leading into the lake. just want everyone to be well aware that when the shotgun starts the tourney, there will be wakes and rooster tails im sure. please be well aware of what you and your vessel is capable of. if you and your crew dont want to get caught in a bad situation, please hold back one or two minutes. lets be safe and have a great time!!:D

SpecD I would assume you are not fishing but the Lead Referee!!!:*****:
Word of warning, better watchout for all those cheaters!!!:*****:

Reel Bender 03-09-2010 07:22 PM

We will be the 1st boat and I will be casting a 2 ounce weight on our way out, don't say you were'nt warned!!! LOL

huntin fool 03-09-2010 07:22 PM

i got the high speed camera ready (yeah right lol)

speckd will have the Camer rollin.

All i can say is, this will solve all, "my boat is faster than yours", we'd prefer smaller boats to stay behind, unless you run a 16 fter with a 115 johnson.

I'll be in the back of the back back !

Dink 03-09-2010 08:04 PM

I put my shrimp nets back on the boat.....ill be taking up one of the canals one side to the other....I'm not telling which one, it'll be a crap shoot! Should make things just that little bit more interesting.....

I just wanted to add something to the safety topic. Towards the end of the tourney there will be a bunch of boats tied up @ the launch in the slips & what not. Please remember to slow down & idle in the last 300 feet to the landing. I fished the Sulphur firemans tournament last year & there were about 20 boats tied up @ the launch for the weigh-in. Some douche came flying in & didn't slow down until he was about 50 ft from the dock. The wake from his boat had all the boats bouncing up & down & smacking against the dock. It's a real big safety issue & it is also the law. As per tournament rule #1:

1. All Federal and State rules and regulations will apply. Violations will result in disqualification of the entire team.

The law:

“No Wake” Zones: “No wake” zones have been established on all Louisiana waterways within 300 feet of:
  • A boat ramp that is open to the general public
  • A dock adjacent to a boat ramp that is open to the general public. Vessels must be operated at “bare steerage speed” and produce no wake

I love people who never look behind them in no wake zones.
