And regarding the stories on this thread - one thing I want to stress is that we certainly don't mean for this to be a SUBSTITUTE for going to the doctor. There are too many nasty bacteria in our water to skip out on a doc visit after getting plugged by a 'ray. One of the issues people often come across is that shards of the barb break off and lodge into the foot or leg - obviously, you're not going to be able to pull these out with tweezers. Play it safe and get treated ASAP, even if it seems like a "minimal" hit.
