There are too many variables to predict what will happen 6 or 8 weeks from now. It is not looking to good right now, but things can change.

A few years back the Ohio river had some record flooding for a week. But by the time all that water got into the Mississippi river, the "crest" started coming down the river and slowly started falling by the time the crest was half way to the Gulf. We did not see any flooding in LA. that year.

If the mid west area gets a warm spell to melt the snow on the ground, that water could runoff and be gone before the main ice breaks free.
