Spent 4 years in the Navy, was an avation electronics technican on F/A 18 hornets, really enjoyed it and there is more you can do when you get out having an electronics backgroud in the military, you are going to have to put up with bull wherever you go but if he really wants to do it I would recommend some sort of electronics field and at least in the Navy your on a boat not sleeping in the sand and we got a chance to see a lot of cool ports overseas. just my .02
