Two things to remember about photography.

1. You camera absolutely doesn't matter.
2. The most important part of your camera is the 12 inches behind it.

Oh yeah, and IS is good but IS will not stop a fast subject. It will only help you shoot a stationary subject at a slower shutter speed. It may help with panning, but that is debatable.

To stop a fast subject you need a fast lens.
