That all depends on how old it is, newer ones are more efficient.

There is no need for an individual to have a 300 or 400 lb. ice machine, unless you are going to use a lot of ice.

installed it. But the bigger ones, you will definitely be able to tell. I needed a lot of ice when I fished offshore.
I stored ice from the small 45 lb. ice maker in trash bags, in a big freezer, until it was needed. I didn't want to
buy a big ice machine and only needed a lot of ice a couple times a month.

My current house isn't plumbed up for an ice machine, or I would buy another small one.
