The Coast Guard is searching today for a man who fell overboard into
Lake Pontchartrain after the boat in which he was traveling struck the
Causeway about a mile north of
Metairie.
Four boaters went into the water after the Sunday night crash. Two managed to climb into the sinking vessel and call for help around 9:50 p.m. while a Coast Guard response boat scooped up a third man, according to a Coast Guard statement.
The boaters have not been identified, and an investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing, the Coast Guard said.
