My guess is you will need at least $100K for inventory to start out plus a sizeable amount of working capital. Minimum orders for large wholesalers is anywhere from $2500-$10000. And that goes for large tackle companies such as Berkley. I had roughly $25K in inventory for the Houston Fishing Show and when we laid it out it barely filled up two display racks. Companies such as Shimano have very stringent criteria that you have to meet and it can take several months for them to approve you.

Like Pox said, write out a business plan and leave no stone unturned. There's not a whole lot of money in baits so you'll have to work on moving items such as rods, reels, gaffs, etc…

No easy task, but if it's your dream and your business plan looks good then go for it. Otherwise you will always regret no doing so.
