It just gels on the "red top" filter on the fuel canister of a 225 Optimax at the side of the motor. I have seen diesel do this also but never gas, so I am thinking David may be right about the "allergy"

According to the email that the manufacturer of sea foam sent me back, it is a "petroleum blend" and it should not affect my filters in the way I described.
