I fished out of Capt. Brent Juarez's boat on Monday and he had a separate trolling motor bracket mounted in the rear of his boat for running, but he runs like a bat outta hell fishing tourneys. Have also seen several other tourney boats with two brackets around TX. The Majek guys say it costs you 3-5mph when you're running and gunning.
Don't know how applicable it would be for what you're talking about although I know you're not a slow poke.
