Finally had a day off with decent weather, so I hit the Lake with the father-in-law for a quick trip. Headed out of Calcasieu Point with a light North wind and fished the North end of the lake. Water clarity was pretty good compared to the last time I fished, and we had some light tidal action. Lots of shrimp and ribbon fish with trout literally jumping out of the water chasing shrimp. Needless to say, once the sun came up there were birds all over the place (and lots of boats as well). We fished all over the north end, and left around 11am with a box of solid trout and 2 reds. The action shut down with the tide around 9:30, but we still managed to pick up a couple here and there. Everything caught on glow/chart sand eels, and pearl colored gulp curly tails. Easy fishing if the wind stays down!
