I've fished both and I am here to tell you that in all honesty, Louisiana fishing is far superior. Here's why: More habitat by FAR. Also, much less fishing pressure.

Where I fish here in the SLP area, it's a zoo on the weekends. When the conditions are right, just on my little bayou I'll probably see 15 boats, and just sitting on my porch and looking around the bays, I've seen as many as 30-35 boats. Weekdays are much better, but you'll still see 10-15 boats out there running around.

In La., I fish out of Empire in Plaquemines Parish. On a weekday you're lucky to see 1 or 2 other boats on our bayou/bay. Weekends get busy too and you might see 5 or 6 boats. That's a big difference between the 2 states.

Take it to the bank, La. fishing is better. Now if you're just after one trophy trout, I'd say you're more likely to find it in Texas, probably in Baffin Bay.
