Default BL 6-16-12. Caught a few.

Jumped in the boat with Tim and his better half for an afternoon trip on Saturday. The two of them had busted some big reds and nice trout the day before and we were hoping for more of the same. Took a while to get the first bite but man it was a good one. A 8lb 9oz. red fish with an attitude decided to climb all over my she dog!!! It was worth the whole trip. Been a awhile since I had a red that big bust a topwater. We caught a couple of trout after that before we had to hurry back to the landing because of a storm that started in the gulf and just blew up into the lake. About an hour or so later we went back out for another run at em. The area where the reds were stacked the day before was void of reds but Tim caught a few trout in the area. He had a couple blow ups and one that got off and they were nicer trout for sure and landed a couple as well.
We moved to another area right before dark and the first point we got too had a nice blow up but miss. Was a redfish for sure. We saw a few birds working and went over to investigate and stayed until 9 pm trying to catch some more fish out of this bunch of trout. There was so much bait we literally were waiting for a fish to blow up and then casting to try to hook up. Guess we pulled 5 or 6 out of that bunch but only 2 keepers. We ended up with 7 keeper trout and that big red. It was a great trip. Safe, good folks and caught a few. The sunset was off the charts after that rain. Just makes you glad to be alive. EC
