Thats one out of six people I talked to and he is the only one running the optimax, everyone else running the Pro xs in 225-250hp. Im in the market for a used boat and walked away from a fine shearwater because of the black pro xs on the back.

When I had my F150 yamaha all I did was put gas and regular yearly maint.
My brother just took his off his boat (2008 Pro XS 250). It blew up 4 weeks ago at Spicers- calon flew 15 feet in air and flames shot out the side- loudest noise I ever heard. Women and children were running, after I shat in my pants we had to extinguish it. Motor was under warranty but mercury would not pay said a fuel float stuck causing gas and vapors to flood the calon. He made a claim and is now installing new Suzuki 225. Will be selling Pro XS, motor still starts, compression is good and lower unit looks great.
