Its hard to compete with what they are feeding on when they hit on the top sometimes. I've had really good luck taking a 1/8 oz jig head and a smaller bait regardless of what they are feeding on. Ill usually use a swim mullet or deadly Dudley. The trick here is to tip it with a piece of shrimp and dragggg the bait. They can't stand it and the shrimp is just enough to drive them crazy. In my experiences with this situation its more about size of the bait and movement. Try it out
