I mean, if you think you can pick up on a mouth call in 3 weeks, go for it. I didn't mention mouth calls cause I still haven't picked up on them. Just can't get them to fit right. And they take time to learn, most people will suggest if you're going to pick up on a mouth call, start using them at least 3 months before the season.

But by all means, if you think you can do it, go on and do it man. More power to ya. But primos and Flextone offer some cool little gadgets that hook onto your gun or strap to your leg for one handed operation. Can't recall what flextone's gun harness is called, but Primos line is The Freak. Pot and box calls. Gerald uses a pot I believe. Pretty cool, or you can rig something up yourself. I practice calling with my box or pot and sitting with my gun in shooting position.

If you were gonna go mouth calls though, get a clean double. Nothing with any fancy cuts or any of that to start with. All those cuts create rasp and they just cover up the imperfections of your calling. I would say go for an H&S strut starter pack or one of the primos packs. That way you have multiple calls that you can work with and you may mess one up trying to get the fit right in your mouth. I have the H&S strut pack and it comes with a calling CD. Great pack.
