There is no fishing lodges left on Sabine. When former Point Pleasant was ran in Johnson Bayou we ran 7-8 boats 7 days a week. Sabine is a good lake and you should come fish it. Results from a trout tourn last week proved it. It took 15lb strongers with 3 trout to make top 5 in tourn. 17.65 won the tourn. 5lb. avg in my opinion is an awesome tourn. Triangletailchasers.com. Check the results and that guy with ****ie is Albert Bates with the big trout. Heck of a big trout fishermen.

This. Very few access points on the lake that I am aware of. Virtually no place to launch on the LA side with immediate access to the lake unless you launch at the causeway. I fished Sabine a lot in the past and always had a tough time picking a launch, usually using Pleasure Island which is lower end of lake - making for long runs. Really not many places to stay either besides some cheap motels and they aren't on the water.
Big Lake has an infinitely better infrastructure.
