I told my wife she was not allowed at the house while I was building it. She could go shopping for decorations while I worked on the house. It took me forever to draw the plans(over a year) the way I wanted them and I'll be damned if I was going to have some fu-fu BS she saw on one of those goofy shows screw up my plans. Then I realized that once we started building it, little things got changed the whole time!
My house is small, only 1,200sq ft, but I was only 20 and broke when I built it. My ceilings are 11ft and vault up to 14ft so that helps make it appear bigger than it really is. I couldn't imagine a 2,000 sq ft house..... That's a whole lot of cleaning
