hydrofoil creates drag to prevent porpoising, drag reduces performance(speed) if you are having porpoising issues the best bet would be putting your gas tanks or ice chest in the front of your boat, others may chime in some may say differently, but that is my opinion, i had a boat that had porpoising issues only when empty, no issues when hunting and fishing gear was loaded, i would say hydrofoil would be a last resort option
