When my 8' wont catch its time to start anchoring off anyways...theres only been a couple times fishing big lake that i wish i would have had a 10' but when ive used it in toledo bend ive wanted it every time..if you dont have one yet go 10' and be done with it...you can stop it half way down to be able to clear low areas, its how I do with mine.
