No big deal have fun. Louisiana sportsmen are less susceptible to the elitism that is more widespread and prominent in other parts of the country, but this is one area where sportsmen tend to try and bolster their self-esteem by comparing themselves to others.

For me, the contest is with the fish. A lot of fishing is knowing where the fish are and putting your bait in front of them. If I had a bigger boat and didn't mind burning the gas, I'd probably fish the weirs more than I do.

I'm not ashamed to say that I am often looking for an easier way to put fish in the boat for myself, my children, and the guests on my boat. Making it harder to catch fish is a valid pursuit for those who enjoy greater challenge. That's just not how I approach it. If it's legal and safe, I'm up for trying it if it might put more fish in the ice chest for less time and effort.
