You dont push it down you slam it. You can dice onions and peppers with it. Just slab a pepper 4 sides stack and cut in the press. Peel core and half an onion then its diced in one cut. Its best to use right after cutting. If you use the next day you will lose a lot of liquid from the veggies.

Thanks...... I cut a bunch of vegetables when I cook big jambalaya's.... I'm going to check this out.
