Popping cork uses 1/16 or 1/8 depending on wind.

Water depth of 1-7 feet uses 1/8 or 1/4. Same applies if your working fast over deeper water.

Water depth greater than that usually means 3/8 or 1/2 if they are on the bottom.

I use painted jigheads to keep me organized. White for 1/16 and 1/8. Chartreuse for 1/4. Plain for everything else. Makes life easy when I'm rummaging in the box.
