I bet a couple ice chest full of shad "chopped" up in a blender or food processor would work just as good.

I had a friend tell me that someone he knew used frozen shad for chum.

They would fill up gallon milk jugs with shad and then fill it with water and freeze it. Then when ready to go fishing, they would cut 3" hole [maybe 2 holes] in the plastic. Then tie a line to the jug and let it float in the water. Tie the line off to the boat and as the ice melts the "chum" is slowly released.

This method sounds good to me but I have never seen it done.

I would like to fill up a couple of ice chest with shad to use as fertilizer in the garden...... but the wife is not too keen on this idea.
