idk if my response will help but we glued our standard transducer to the bottom of our bay boat, and we never had a problem reading depth and it picked up temperature too. It takes a little longer for it to acclimate to the actual water temp sense its in the hull but it worked good enough for us. It had to be accurate to about 2-3 degrees if I had to guess
