circles are great for reds. 3/0 are fine for slot reds.. something in the 3-5/0 range would probably fine on lightish tackle. I've caught 25 lb stripers on 2/0 circles.

There is another anchor that you can use. You can even make it yourself if you need to. Called a mighty mite or a claw anchor it's basically aluminum prongs like a big grapple hook and if it for somereason can't be pulled back up... then you can put the boat in gear and the prongs will bend and you get your anchor back. You can build one with rebar as well. I don't recommend danforth anchors for the jetties.
