My dealer did run ours for almost an hour to check out commission everything on the boat, check for leaks and make sure there were no issues with the engine.
I have a Yamaha 150 4 stroke.
I had to run her at different rpm's for 5 minutes each, for the first 10 hours. I made 2 different 5 hour trips to get it out of the way before fishing. I didn't want to have to worry about that while fishing.
According to the manual and the dealer, I had to run her at WFO for 5 minutes intervals.
I ran for 500, 1000, 1500, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500 and 6000 for 5 minutes at a time. I would ramp her up 500 at a time, then ramp her down 500 at a time. The dealer checked on how long I ran at each RPM in the computer. He did gripe cause I only ran her at 6000 for like 2 minutes in stead of longer. I felt it was not good to run her that hard, new.
I could not run her at 2000 rmps. The boat was plowing and it felt like she was straining way too hard. Again, I didn't want to screw up my new motor too early.
After the 10 hr. break in, the dealer said I could run her how ever I wanted. It was under warranty. I didn't do anything to void it.
He gave me a print out of what they got out of the ECM too.
