Shawn we surely need to hook up! I love running hogs in the marsh, especially when we go out for LDWF and do it out of airboats, WAY COOL! Have you ever seen a dog jump out of a moving airboat in pusuit of a wild boar? Funny stuff!
These little dogs are not "suppose" to catch, but we have one that thinks he is a 95 pound pit. He is actually the father of my pup owned by Mr. Buddy Goatcher of Carencro, and his name is Bart. Simply incredible to watch him work, but his bad a** attitude got him in trouble Saturday and he was the one that got the worse end of the injuries! Just like any other hog dog, some get "gritty" and once a dog moves in, they all wnat a piece of hair!
They are used overseas for bear and wild boar, as well as varmit hunting which the farmers take very seriously over there. I want to attend some Croatian hunts when I make a "bucket list" since Croatia has the biggest and meanest boar anywhere in the world. I love the fact that these dogs can be a house pet, blood tracker, hog dog, and are willing to die to protect his "family".
