This is the third pirogue I've built but one thing I learned after building the first one is to have all gaps come together as good as possible. On the 2nd and 3rd one I did, I used liquid nail between the bottom and sides. After that dried, the boats would float but I put fiberglass cloth and resin along the bottom and up the sides.

They really are fairly easy to build and come in handy when you need them.
