Looks like a unique variation of a similar popping cork i've used. Definitely an improvement... although the originals made by Comal and Almeda sold at Walmart and other sporting goods were definitely very good on trout and reds.

I do like the ability to change the rattle sound thats pretty cool, and to be able to open them up and change or whatever is a good option.

If they are similar to the above brands, they'll be good. As for wrapping the line I never had a problem but I used at least 12lb mono... and later 20lb leader material in the nubs as you call them. Braid will only slip. So if you use braid, you have to tie on a mono or Fluoro leader and run that through the nubs.
