Take your time, do it right and you will enjoy it. I mounted the ones I built on casters.
And if you can get two barrels and add and extra ring to give it a little more room is the ultimate. Gives you a lot of extra room on the top rack for big pieces of meat to cook without it being so close to the lid, or the lid possibly touching it.
And you can usually find the lids on eBay.

Here's a lil trick for smoking w/ UDS in cold weather.Get you a small banjo burner and place in the bottom of the UDS. Hard pipe it to outside of drum . Quick gas connector on end of hard pipe. If you need extra heat you can fire up the burner. You will need a needle valve regulator for fine heat control .
