FlagUS Big Lake Report 7/04/17

I headed out by myself Tuesday morning from Spicer's with two quarts of live shrimp. I headed to the southwest part of Big Lake. I thought the weather reports were wrong because it was not windy and the water was pretty calm right as the sun started to come up. That didn't last long. It was a 14mph SSW wind within 20 minutes of when I took the picture. I fished all over the south side of Big Lake, West Cove and Fred's Cove. Everywhere I wanted to fish there were two boats there already hiding from the wind. The water was dirty all over! I did not see any good water the entire day. The throw back ratio on the trout was 1 keeper out of every 3 trout boated. I ended the day keeping 1 red and 6 trout. I caught two other reds but they were just over 28". I don't keep any reds over 27" unless they are very thin and neither of them were. I caught everything on live shrimp either under a popping cork or carolina rigged.

I hope the water gets clean and the salinity goes up soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!
