You can change just the outside unit and the inside coil and keep the heater.
If they say they cannot do that, it's bull crap.
The new outside units need a new coil. They won't warranty it if you don't
change the inside coil.
The heater is the heater. Only reason to change it is if it is gas and the heat
exchanger is busted or leaks.
Carrier is not that bad, but it will cost a lot more.
