I've seen many deer and hogs dead because of a 223/5.56mm. Yeah it is on the small side but will do a great job given the trigger man/woman does their job. I prefer a larger caliber (7mm 08) in my case but I would never feel under gunned with my AR. 60grn Hornady spire point bullets loaded with 24 grns of AA2460 will nearly penatrate 3/8 steel plates at 25 yards. At 150 yards it will turn a crow inside out. You can just lay him out flat on a table. He is spread like warm butter.
