Default Offshore Cameron 6-1

Well Adam(adamsfence) and Josh met me at my house around 6am. We drove to Cameron and were out the jetties around 7:30. It was really calm and i was able to run 25 to 30mph so I set the GPS for Cal Rock. We stopped at a rig bout 25 miles out to try to make bait and caught two smacks. We moved the next rig a few miles away and Adam hooked up pretty on a butterfly jig which ended up being a bull red. So we tied up and shortly later we hooked a blacktip beside the boat. Adam and Josh were both excited because they had never caught a shark. 45 minutes and 8 4' sharks later everyone caught all they could handle, so we continued offshore. Saw a nice weedline about 40 mile out so we stopped and trolled but nothing. We made it to where Cal Rock number led me but I could not find any bottom feature. I idled around looking for it and they caught 2 atlantic sharpnose sharks. Wanting to get away from the sharks we headed to a group of rigs to the west. We stopped and tied up they worked jigs and sabiki rigs and I freelined a cigar minnow behind the boat. Not long after the cm took off screaming and I could feel it was a big fish. After 30 minutes of hard fighting we see the fish....another shark. This one was at least 5-1/2' and ended up keeping it. Pulled back up to the rig I drove while they fished. Adam hooked something good on a sabiki rig. He fought what ended up being a kingfish for 20 minutes. The odds of him getting it in on that rig were slim to none. So I pulled back up they dropped their rigs and when Josh got his to the top he says "shark" and yanks the jig away. I looked down and saw a nice ling and told him to drop it back. He hooked it and after a good fight it eneded up breaking off at the boat. The bite died down so we moved to another rig and hooked up instantly. It was a king. Then Adam hooked a fish that took off screaming so we untied and followed it. Guess what....after a long battle he brought a 5-1/2' black tip to the boat. Lol they were everywhere. Tied back up and the bite was on. It was all we could to keep a bait in the water. We caught 5 more kings, 2 ling, and 2 nice snapper. It was late so we headed in with an overflowing box of fish. The total count was 1 bullred, 5 smacks, 6 kingfish, 2 nice ling, 2 big snapper, and 12-15 sharks. It was a great day.
