In my opinion, the best eating reds are between 15 and 18 inches. I won't keep any over 25 at all. Of course here in Texas you can't keep any in that range, so I just fill up my freezer when I'm in La. No, I no longer keep 15 inchers. Wouldn't be good for a guy with the last name Law to break the law. The best eating trout are 14-20 inches. I won't keep any over 22, not that I catch many over 22. I usually catch trout on accident when I'm fishing for reds.
