Maybe try Prien Lake park. Go over on the west side. There is a bayou drainage ditch there and you might be able to catch a red.
Using the Yack, drive to the Round-about near the I-210 on Prien Lake rd. Take the road to the west, which will take you along side of I-210. Go under I-210 and a little past the boat launch is a Yack launch. From the launch, go just a little to the left.... and north towards the Ship channel. Fish along the bank to your right before you get to the Ship channel. There is an old river bed about 40-50 yards out with 10 to 12 foot depth. Or dry the Ship channel drop off's. You might find some specks in these areas.

Or you could go down south on Big Lake road [about 4 miles] to the Calcasieu Point boat landing and fish off the bank. If time permits, you could use the Yack to go back east about 300 yards [this is towards the ICWW locks] to where a cut goes back into a marsh. Sometimes you can find some reds in there.

Or.... go a few miles farther south on Big Lake rd and cross over the Internal coastal and launch the Yack behind Fred's bar. From there paddle west and fish the cuts.

Check these spots on Google Earth to learn the area some.
