Default Windy weekend.

I was entered in a Wahoo tournament this weekend. It was canceled for obvious reasons. High winds and seas 4 days straight. Nobody was going offshore at all. One of the guys that had to cancel called me and asked if I could do an inshore. I jumped on it.

Our day started with a windy cool ride on the river. I cut into a canal that runs along the river and found some relief from the high winds and choppy water.

We started working this canal and were instantly rewarded with a keeper redfish.

In less than 10 minutes we get a double. These are all good fish.

This is the type of fishing I had been missing this winter. I thought it was game on but I was slowly let down. From there on the rest of the day was a pick. The bite was just steady enough for us to be happy with what was happening. The small rat reds were almost non existent in this area.

The other boat with me also was having the same type of day. At the end of the day we were able to limit with quality fish. We did not care to fish any longer anyway because we ran out of bait. We fished mostly with dead shrimp but we did manage a very good one on artificial bait. It is one of the ones the guys are holding in the photo. The only fish I caught for the box was the catfish in the middle. The crew filled the box today without any of my help.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
