Default Dirty lump fishing

This weather has the waters very dirty making wahoo fishing a crap shoot. We have to keep trying every time out but lately the wahoo have been deep or just gone from the area due to water conditions.

I decked for Lee again in his Americat. This boat is the one you want to be in when the seas are nasty. We made a wild stab at finding something on the shelf rigs. We started at lena and found a blackfin on a jig but nothing else. Next was moxy but we did not even mark anything worth while. Straight to the lump and got dirty. Most of the other boats were having trouble finding bonito or kings but we lucked out holding bonito under our boat. We had a lot of action and I was unable to take a bunch of pictures. This is what things looked like by the time we had out second blackfin and first yellowfin. I had probably cut up 3 or 4 bonito by this time.

The yellow

and the black hit the deck at the same time.

We picked away through the kings and sharks along with the many bonito. At one time I had 2 baskets full of bonito and I never stopped cutting them for chum and hook bait as the customers kept hauling them in. I also cut up 2 & 1/2 boxes of pogies. In between all this we occasionally put yellos and blacks in the box untill about 2:00 3 of the 4 guys were spent and ready to head in. The ride in was a lot easier than getting out in the morning but the temp was dropping so the wind chill made up for the morning pounding.

4 yellows and 6 blacks made the guys very happy.

This morning while cleaning the boat I had a visitor. This otter came within 5 feet of me but it took me a time to get the camera out and get a picture.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
