I have a very good friend, Mel Landry, who works for the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Project. His job, and yes he takes part, is to assemble teams to participate in coastal restoration projects, such as planting marsh grass, invasive species removal.
Mel is not a hippie, he is a hard working dude, he cares about the state. I have gone on several plantings and trash clean ups. So yes, I would say the state needs more enviromentalists like Mel.
