Looking for south Big Lake Landings

My buddy said he wanted to make a Big Lake trip in the next couple weeks and we were trying to launch from the south end of the lake. Any Suggestions/Directions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

There is some docks by the Cameron Ferry.

Launches on the south end would be below Hackberry, West cove Lauch which approx. 11 miles south of Hackberry right off Hwy 27.

The 2nd lauch is the one Catdaddy spoke of at the ferry on hwy 82 on the west side of the channel. If you have an aluminum boat not to bad. Bay boat is a problem. It's real shallow & you can't get boat up to the bank at the landing, you'll have to get out.

There is one right at the jetties on the Cameron side of the river.
I have seen big offshore boats launch at the ferry landing..... But I have never launched there.
Hebert's in Big Lake is probably best. It is in the middle of the lake. You can go almost
any direction from there. The ramp isn't much and the parking is limited, but it is in
the right place.
There is also one right at the bridge in Hackberry, Spicers. It is also close to the
center of the lake, but on the West side of the ship channel.

they also have a launch near the old pier on the east side down by the beach. on the cameron side

The one at the jetties is deep at the bottom of the ramp, but there is a big hump from
a lot of the boats power loading and pushing the dirt away from the ramp.
It isn't much of a problem with bay boats, unless there is a very low tide.
I went to Cameron a couple days and the water was about 2 ft. below normal low tide.

Thanks for the suggestions but I am a little confused with which ones are "shallow" or not. This will be a problem since my buddy has an deep old shrimp boat...that is what I call it anyway. He needs good water to land the boat. Will Heberts be the best place? We just want to land a little lower in the lake than Cal. Point Landing.

Heberts is a shallow landing. Lots of bay boats have to put the truck tires down the the edge of the water.

You might try and call Spicers in Hackberry. I have never launched there yet, too far to drive for me. [SIZE=2]337-762-4418[/SIZE]
Like I said above, I have seen a lot of deep-V offshore boats launch out of the ferry landing, but I have never launched there.
I can tell you from experience, don't launch a big boat from the Jetty launch. Been there done that. Won't do that again.

Spices is a good launch. Just stay in the bayou channel as you head over to the Ship channel. The channel makes a big circle to the left, a little ways after leaving the launch.

Near Spicer there is another launch.....Davis, it is on the ship channel. Don't use that launch.....concret under water is very uneven and not good for a bigger boat.

Another possible launch to use is "Dugas" it is a couple of miles south of Hackberry. I only been there one time about 7 years ago. When you leave the launch, go straight east toward the small leeve and then turn and follow the leeve south to the cut to get out into the ship channel. The water is shallow along the edge of this "channel" to get to this launch and not marked very well.

ive launched out of spicers,dugas,heberts,calc.point, and jetties launch..



out of them all, calc.point is the best for us. heberts and spicers are Ok. Dugas had all them ducks and like gerald said the levee area was SHALLOW .

I have ran a deep V boat up to Dugas landing, but I have never launched there.
I forgot about that one. When I went, before Rita, the channel in and out was
marked.
