Default 5/21/16 BL late Report

It's been a while since I've been on here but here you go.
Hit Big Lake last Saturday and found some solid trout choking down swim baits. Vudu Mullets and 4" Tsunamis. Fish were around schools of mullet and would not touch anything but a swim bait retrieved steadily. Image1464180689.733848.jpgImage1464180700.584325.jpgImage1464180714.468529.jpg

Dude admitted to soaking croaker on Salty Cajun. You think he cares what people think about his glasses?

Pretty much every thing I have caught this spring has been on Tsunamis or Usual Suspects. I wish they made the damn things easier to find. I hate ordering baits. Just started using the Storms and have had petty good luck with them. Limetruese and Plum/Chartreuse are my Goto. Glow/Chart is killer as well. Don't mess Voodoo Mullets though. They are pricy and I am not crazy about the action and they way they respond in the water. I don't loose many fish on a swim bait. I usually have to pull them out their stomach.

3" or 4"? Not being smart but what's the difference between a predigesting usual suspect and a cocahoe on a lead head?

I use 34 and 5 inch depending on what size bait fish are in the area. Plastic on a jig head fall a lot faster whereas a swim bait is balance to kinda flutter down. You can also control the depth you retrieve them by the angle of your rod. If you are fishing in current you can hold the bait at whatever depth you want and retrieve them at a slower rate then the speed of the current making it a slower target than anything else being pushed along. Their silhouette is also a lot more like the shape of a typical bait fish. I find that to be pretty important in dirty water.
