Default West Cove beat down

Got invited to fish the big lake area this week by a couple of friends and it did not disappoint. We fished west cove and wound up with our 6 over 25 with the biggest weighing in at 7.2 lbs. and had our three man limit with a 3.5 lb avg. the bait of choice was live croakers which the trout were absolutely inhaling and a few were caught on vudu mullet after the croakers ran out.

West Cove must be your code word for Joe's Cove. I seen y'all slinging them. Good try posting wrong location to keep pressure out of the area. Anyone that sees the pretty water in Joe's vs the mud hole that is West Cove will know I speak the truth. It is not very nice making a burn handle to trick people into burning a bunch of gas running around in 20mph winds.

First time I have been in that area but my buddy said the name of the area we were in was west cove and yes the water was pretty dirty but the trout didn't seem to mind. I really don't have time for games just trying to be a good samaritan and give a report.

W from the pics i've seen all you catch is dinks and not a lot of them. Maybe you should eat those shrimp you're fishing with and use some croakers.

I don't need anything live in my boat to catch fish!!

I was raise better than that !!

Zero skills in soaking bait

Zero zero zero !!

Live bait is for kids and elderly people who can not work baits anymore

It was inevitable that croaker soaking would migrate up the texas coast. The only reason its not worse on sabine is they are not that easy to get. Most people that use them pull trawls to catch bait. There are more and more bait camps selling them now though. Its a shame.

Dude gets invited to fish with friends, catches a fish for the 3rd time in his life, doesn't know exactly where he's fishing, has no pictures to prove his story, and has the nerve to talk trash on a guide on big lake for consistently catching fish? I don't personally know you bert or Mr. Waltrip, but I would rather invest my time in someone who helps others rather than a person trying to be deceitful.
