Could John Sought be Jean Sot? He was always the dummy or the drunkard in alot of the old tales

I had a book called Cajun and Creole folktales and that's where I first heard about Jean Sot. I think the book was written by Barry Ancelet

My grandfather's name was Algole. I never met him but when I asked my mom why that name was chosen for him she explained that his parents spoke french only and she thinks that they wanted to name him Arthur but was lost in dialect translation. lol

This is another interesting book of stories about growing up Cajun. Don't remember if Jean Sot is specifically mentioned or not, it's been a few years since I read it last.
