Default utilizing chicken

Da leg quarters are on sale this week for .39/lb so I bought 2 sacks or around 8$ worth of chicken. I cut the backs off the thighs and set them aside. cleaned the chunks of fat off and set that aside. Took the lets and thighs separated and put then in 5 meal size bags for me and Peg with leftovers for lunch the next day figured in. The backs went in a bag to be used for crawfish bait. With my 12 set nets on a bad day I'll catch 10 lbs worth more than the chicken I started with. The fat goes in a qt bag for cat fish bait. Enough to run a 25 hook line for a couple baitings or a lot of bank fishing..So not too bad for cheap arsed chicken. I plan to head out for 2 more bags this aafternoon gotta pick up my weekend 18 pack of PBR anyways. Maybe put one bag on the pit and q em up eat what we want and the rest is great in blackeye peas. As in a ole fashoned black eye pea jumbalaya. rio-fev?? is how i say it but like most things cant spell it

Chicken is one of the most versitale pieces of meat ther is. Especially for the $. Around spring/summer holidays they almost give it away. I'm not ashamed to stock up while it's cheap. Leg quarters in the freezer is never a bad thing.

My favorite thing to do with quarters, aside from smothering then in mustard and grilling them, is to turn them into crab meat....

Sounds like more work! For $3.90 I'm tying line straight to them quarters and turning them into 100 crabs, it's like magic

I aint saying ya wrong and if ya can spare the moneygo for it. It's just that I was raised poor and now that I aint working am again poor where money counts. it took me like 10 minutes to cut the back bones off and the legs and thigs I saved will make 5 meals while the back bones will catch all the crab or crawfish we need. tie em on a string or line put em in a net or trap.
