Default V. Bay redfish bonanza

Well, finally got to go run the boat today. After 4 months of inactivity in the salt waters it was on like donkey kong today. Weather man missed the wind forcast again today, but I was determined to get out and at least run the boat. Got my son, brother in law and another bud together at the last minute this afternoon and headed out to the Verm. Got to the landing at 2 pm. and was met with chocolate fudge waters that was rolling like a coaster. Once out of the cove, I figured we wouldnt be able to fish the outside for trout like I had wanted too,so we headed to the island to try for some calmer waters. As we neared Dry Reef, the water started to clean up a bit. We pulled up at our first and only stop and wore out the reds. We caught at least 40 reds in about 2.5 hrs. We each had a red over 27" which we traded out with some slot fish along the way. Also had a few puppy drum in the mix. All were caught on assorted plastics and dead skrimps. My son caught his personal best today with a 28.5" beauty. Headed in a little after 5 pm. to get a head start on the cleaning process. Great to be out again, Had a Blasssss.

Way to go! Nice catch. The smile on your son's face is priceless.

He's being too modest. In Texas, that red would've been 36" and 40# by the time he hit the dock!
