Default Lowrance hds7 touch owners

Looking for some feed back on this unit. Just sold my garmin 441s. Loved it no problems. I want a bigger unit. I want to switch over to lowrance. Garmin 740 series is nice but its just like the iphone bigger better but all the same. Lowrance is like android requires a little more to operate. Charts look awesome imaging etc.

Whats the scoop on the hds7 touch on your bay boat.

Im about to upgrade to a newer lowrance. The one I currently have is gonna go on my front deck. My only dislike about lowrance is the poor quailty basemap. You have to buy a navionics card or the insight version. They are also about to come out with an insight HD chip for about half the price of a navionics chip next month. I had a garmin on my last boat and it was easier to use but lacked some of the functions of the lowrance

Default Lowrance

Check out online Louisiana Sportsman report section. Someone compared a recent Lowrance with a Garmin and the clarity of the Lowrance was amazing. I think it was Century Man that gave the report come to think of it.

I never cared for touch screens....they get full of oil and grime from your fingers and constantly have to clean them. Personally I would go with the regular HDS.

1k for the HDS7....cheapest I seen the HDS8 was 1,650. Even though the 8 has more features I just can't justify spending that much for a 1" bigger display. This is the company I have used in the past. http://www.thegpsstore.com/GPS-Fishfinders-C38.aspx?m=7

How can they prove you bought it on ebay?

Unlike Shimano reels, they have serial numbers on the units.

If you can get the 8 its actually almost 2 inches bigger (i think like 6.4 and 8.3) and if you had a chance to use them both you would realize how much the soft keys make things so much easier.
