I haven't fished GI in a few years but one of last times I went surf fishing was 1st week of April. Fished surf behind Bridgeside Marina and caught over 150 trout in 2 days on opening night plastics and topwaters.

you can try surf fishing might be starting to turn on. Also go back in the bays and fish moving water around points on islands there is a set of islands right behind GI in caminada bay that hold fish alot. also some rock jetties right behind the island and by the other islands i just mentioned.

Surf trout can be hit and miss that early. Mangrove snapper should be on-on in 30 feet rigs if you go a little further west towards Fourchon. And if you can find American reds inside of 10 miles and can dodge the USCG and NOAA, they're available Fri-Sun.

If you can get some days next week that are warmer ahead of your trip w/o any cold fronts blowing in, you may get a few in the surf. Try the bays near the passes because they are in transition. Those spots mentioned above are good palces to hang a few

Haven't really shown up yet in the surf, still too cold. Lots of small trout behind the island, and a few 5 pounders have been caught in the last couple days in the marshes near Do Gris.

Fifi island doesn't exist all a figment of your imagination. But if it does, fish the bay side of it on falling tide .
