Was talking with State farm, said that South Louisiana has some of the highest wrecks per capita. Lots to do with alcohol as well, especially in SWLA. That's the reason for state wide increases.

State farms increase is not an industry wide increase. Its just that the dept of insurance changed the rules and told insurers that if you are asking for a rate increase this year you must take it all at once. They are not allowing for them to come back during the year like in the past .
Yes. You are correct. Louisiana annually has some of the highest auto insurance rates in the nation. It is attributed to high loss frequencies from weather events, poor driving, and high litigation costs

Default all ins companies going up this year

stay with State Farm, they are the best.... all companies are having a state wide increase this year! Allstate, Farm Bureau, Geicko, etc...all having double digit increases this spring/summer. Check it out on the Dept of Ins. site La.

From what I've heard Farm Bureau is the best if you actually have to make a claim

I moved to Idaho and added another vehicle. I have full coverage on both and I'm paying less than half of what I was paying for only 1 on full coverage. Kept GEICO just changed addresses lol

Since I am an Army VET I have all my INS (home and cars) thru USAA...
Great service so far based on the one claim I had to make on getting a new roof. Before, I was with State Farm and they were great to. Never tired to nickel and dime me when I made a claim.

I used a website, where I provided my information, and then the bidding started.
IN the end, Geico won out, and I saved $1000 a year.

X2. I was with Safeco for awhile, but USAA beat them. Credit card is good also on the reward points and they can bundle just about everything. Even saved money on my camper insurance which used to be with Progressive.

State Farm and Allstate are generally some of the highest out there. Oddly the companies seem to always ask for increases saying that they can not operate without them. But each year each company posts profits so high, they could buy each of us a brand new top of the line center console and new truck. Liberty and Republic have been really good to me on pricing and any issues we have had. I recommend checking into UM coverage.

Since it is illegal to drive without insurance and the the state does not enforce, proactively, this law, UM coverage is the only one that will protect you if someone without insurance hits your car.
